NebuTools™ Density Gradient Medium (Percoll) is a classic culture medium used for density gradient centrifugation of cells, viruses, and subcellular particles. NebuTools™ Density Gradient Medium (Percoll) is composed of colloidal silica particles with a diameter of 15-30 nm (23% w/w in water) and coated with polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP). The PVP coating makes the product completely non-toxic and very suitable for use with biomaterials.

Percoll has been used in sperm preparation to study the energy requirements of bovine embryos. Percoll is composed of silica gel particles with a particle size of 15-30nm (23% w/w in water), which are coated with polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP). It is used to establish non-toxic, low viscosity, and low osmotic pressure density gradients, which can be used for separating cells, organelles, and viruses. It has been used to separate the inner and outer membrane vesicles of Escherichia coli. Percoll is isotonic, non-toxic, and easily removed from purified materials throughout the entire gradient process.
